There have been a few movies about mathematics and mathematicians in the past few years. I wanted to put a list of movies about mathematics and science together. There are more than I thought and this list isn’t anywhere close to being complete. A short list of movies about real life mathematicians, such as Hidden Figures, as well as dramas about the life of mathematicians, Proof, and the way in which mathematics has been applied in real life, Moneyball.

Pi day, March 14, is a day to celebrate the number pi. Find out more about the history of pi, where it is used in “real life”, the definition of pi; some people actually memorize the number pi to thousands of decimal places, see who the record holders are; and learn more about pi day.
Exam time is fast approaching and the goal is to get collect as many marks as possible on the exam. The easiest way to collect marks is to minimize the number of “silly” mistakes made. What are silly mistakes? I’m not even sure I can replicate all the silly mistakes I have seen, notice and point out to students that cost students marks. Even students can’t believe the mistakes they make when they get their tests back. Sometimes it costs students that one mark that is the difference between a pass and a fail.

There isn’t really a “best” way. Going to class helps but even then, that’s not necessarily the best way. We’re all different so the way everyone learns best will be different. But one thing everyone that learn math must do is practice exercises, lot of practice exercises. It’s boring especially when you get the answer wrong and don’t know how to fix it but it’s still very important.
