The difference in attitude towards education in Canada and abroad

I have studied with people from all over the world including people from every continent. One of the advantages of studying a science and language like mathematics, it is global. Something I learnt from studying with students from all over the world, is the respect for education, educators and the responsibility I have in the education process, being the best learner I can possibly be.

How to use your class notes and textbooks more effectively

Many schools and teachers use supplemental material with their textbooks. Material such as handouts, their own notes and materials, in some cases a website. Extra material can only help. However, how that extra material is used can make it more effective. The supplemental material provided by your teacher gives another approach to presenting the material. It can bridge gaps that the textbook may have. Most textbooks used are not always the latest textbooks on the subject. While the content and subjects taught do not change much for a given syllabus, the approach through which it is taught can change over time. I many ways it should change over time since people and society change over time. Many teachers will provide extra practice exercises. Again, this is great. The more you practice and “train” those analytical muscles and skills, the stronger you’ll become.

Learning vs getting good grades in University

Learning a subject doesn’t automatically imply you will get good grades. Learning how to get grades is different skill but does require the knowledge acquired when you are leaning. It is a skill that is definitely worth developing while in university or college. The grades you receive in a particular subject fortunately or unfortunately, represent your knowledge to prospective employers.
