While social distancing, face masks, closing of “non-essential” business were all towards an effort to “flatten the curve” and lesson the immediate effect of the coronavirus, we want to help minimize and possible eliminate the sides effects of these efforts, the primary one being education or the lack of over the past few months. Study Tips
Online tutoring, online teaching, online everything is all the rage now with the age of social distancing upon us. We outline how Raisemymarks undertakes an online tutoring session.
With social distancing becoming the norm, everyone is flocking to online tools, resources and services now. This including tutoring. Finding the write tools for teaching online and in particular teaching mathematics and other symbolic subjects online, is challenging. An interactive, online whiteboard is a great start. We have a short review of some of the online whiteboards we have come across and decided worth looking into.
The current practice is social distancing. But what exactly does this mean? Then there is self quarantine and social or self isolation. We try and decipher these terms. First semester final exams have come and gone, and Second Semester is here. This is the last set of courses before the end of the year. For some students it just means summer holidays before it starts again in September. For other students, these marks are going to make a difference to what program you get into in College or University. These marks matter. Maybe you did great in the first semester and feel you can coast. Maybe you didn’t do so great in the first semester and you are retaking some course again this semester. Whatever your situation, you want to do your best and have a little stress as possible. The best way to ensure this is to “start early”. What does that mean, you ask? Read on and find out more.
Studying and learning material from a course and getting a good grade in the course and performing well on a final exam are not necessarily the same thing. A final exam is a one-time event where all the material and body of knowledge from the entire term for a particular course is tested.
Exam time is fast approaching and the goal is to get collect as many marks as possible on the exam. The easiest way to collect marks is to minimize the number of “silly” mistakes made. What are silly mistakes? I’m not even sure I can replicate all the silly mistakes I have seen, notice and point out to students that cost students marks. Even students can’t believe the mistakes they make when they get their tests back. Sometimes it costs students that one mark that is the difference between a pass and a fail.
