Functions (Pre Calculus) Course Study Aids

This online course is a study aid and focuses on applying the material learnt in the Functions, Pre Calculus, course found at the Grade 11 level, Ontario Canada. e.g. In Ontario the material covered here can be found in the Grade 11, MCR3U or MCF3M, course.   This includes the definition of a function, an introduction to polynomials, trigonometric functions, discrete functions, e.g. sequences and series, and their applications. This functions pre calculs study aid is not a substitute for the actual course. The aim of the course is to help students work through solved exercises, problems and eventually be able to perform on assignment, quizzes, tests and exams more confidently and successfully.

Learning outcomes for each lesson

  • Each lesson will consist of a set of worksheets related to the topics within that lesson.
  • Each lesson is accompanied by a set of videos with worked examples related to some or all of the topics within that lesson.
  • Below is an outline of the lessons and topics covered in this course.

Functions or pre calculus course is a prerequisite for the grade 12 Advanced Functions courses, in Ontario.  It is also a good foundation for some of the more advanced material in preparation for calculus, e.g. exponential functions, logarithms functions, rational functions.  You can find out more about the topics covered in the grade 12 Advanced Functions course.
