The new Ontario mathematics curriculum included, more understanding of money; computer programming skills with the idea of improving problem solving skills and greater technology capabilities; practical examples connecting math to every day life; focus on math fundamentals which include learning and recalling number facts; memorizing the 12 times table. And this is all for elementary school students.

The current social distancing and social isolation is slowly leading to a new normal. This new normal includes many aspects: social, work, learning/education, family. It is amazing how much that was in person is being attempted online especially in the instructional and educational industry. This doesn’t just include formal education but also self education, personal interest, certifications and more.

While social distancing, face masks, closing of “non-essential” business were all towards an effort to “flatten the curve” and lesson the immediate effect of the coronavirus, we want to help minimize and possible eliminate the sides effects of these efforts, the primary one being education or the lack of over the past few months.
