Summer Math Program

Good screen time this summer

Math camp!! Whoo hoo!   Sounds like fun, eh?  No! It doesn’t. 😉  But struggling in math class in the fall, is less fun.  Not just for the student, but for the entire family!  So, why not keep those math muscles toned throughout the summer?  Maybe reduce some math anxiety?  Learn some study skills?  Maybe even a bit of math? 😉  A summer math program can help.

Our summer math programs are small, interactive, groups, in a virtual environment. We don’t just work on math problems. Ours sessions are conversations. Students tell us how they feel about the problems, what they understand and don’t understand.  Our aim it to try and fill in gaps, clarify misunderstandings and introduce new ideas.  We help empower students to take ownership of their learning, through mistakes and successes.

E.g. we explore different tools and resources out there and work together with the student to find something engaging to help facilitate the learning.

Practice exercises are available but we leave that as a contract between you, the parent, and your child as to how much is completed, if any.

A steal of a deal, for summer math!

1 hr / session – grades 1-5 ($105 for 2 weeks)

1.5hr / session (with 10 mins break in between) – grades 6-8   ($157.5 for 2 weeks e)

2 hr/ session (15 min break)  grades 9-12   ($210 for 2 weeks)

(Prices include all taxes and transaction fees)

2 week “camps”
5 days a week (Monday – Friday)

Set material with sample exercises and practice exercises.  Note, we don’t go through the entire curriculum for obvious reasons, time being the main reason. But we do highlight the parts of the course and material we noticed students struggled with the most over the past year.

Camps are no more than 5 persons, not including the instructor/tutor.  So small enough to ensure everyone gets individual attention.

How does a summer math program work?

Short Lesson.  Example exercise(s).  Exercise(s) worked together as a group.  Practice worksheets given to students. (It is the choice of the student whether they wish to do the exercises or not.)

We will leave a bit of time towards the end of the session to answer any question about the homework students may have.

Note, we are not formally “teaching” material.  So, while presenting material we will get students involved e.g. asking questions, students will have be able to write on the online whiteboard offer their input.  It is interactive experience around the given lesson(s) for that session.  At least two lessons will be covered per 2 hour session.

Who is it for?

A summer math program is an ideal review for students.  (These are students who have seen the material at least once and so the concepts are familiar but maybe it has been awhile! 😉   And for those students that want to get ahead, it is a good introduction to the subject. (These are students are keen to do work and extra reading on their own to fill in any understanding.) However, they are by no means a substitute for the actual course.

If additional support and training is required, private, individualized tutoring tailored to the needs of the student is also available.  Please contact for more information and/or to book a session.

When does it start?

Our first session will start July 5, 2021.  Please stay tuned for more details.
